An Enchanting Christmas

Christmas is literally just around the corner. The preparations have all been made; Christmas shopping is slowly coming to an end and decorations have all been put up. Now is the perfect time to just sit back, relax and enjoy the rewards of the day and just celebrate the holidays being enchanted by the spirit and the splendor. Now is the time to experience a laid-back atmosphere amidst the backdrop of a log cabin nestled snuggly in the mountains where the scent of fresh pine trees add to the ambiance of what it is to really feel the quietness and the calm that the season brings, and in not so many words – enchanting.

This season, OUR HOME takes a quick trip out of the city to experience a different kind of Christmas. Set in a space where the colors are muted and neutral, the textures are warm and comfortable, complementing that surrounding environs that becomes the perfect setting for where the family can get together and enjoy not only the ambiance but also each other’s company. OUR HOME makes all of these happen with a select and well-curated combination of furniture and accessories that would really make for an enchanting time.

Being ushered into the living area, a tall, fir tree rests against a huge picture window offering a spectacular view. Bedecked with gold and bronze ornaments alternating with pinecones, the tree serves as a preview to the rest of the room where a certain sense of design aesthetics plays out. An L-shaped taupe sofa and lounger takes center stage echoing a cozy and comfortable feel while a stone topped center table on a cast iron base provides a stark textural contrast. A Mid-Century Modern lounge chair in caramel brown leather in one corner serves as a veritable accent piece being highlighted by a streamlined floor lamp mirroring the same Mid-Century Modern design sensibilities. A solid ivory shag rug adds to warmth of the space while a solid wood paneled wall offers a contemporary take to the log-cabin inspired look of the living area.

The Mid-Century Modern theme consistently travels through to the dining area. This time, a long table for six which can actually accommodate eight persons become the focal point of the room. The table’s surface consists of rustic wood panels that reinforce the warm textures of the space and set against linear cast iron legs, adds to the streamlined and sophisticated look of the space. Mid-Century Modern guest chairs in wood and black leather are paired with host chairs in wood and metal. The intentional mix-match of dining chairs around the table assures a casual atmosphere for the family to partake of meals while at the same time encouraging fun and lively conservations. The same bedecked and adorned tree stands in one corner for a consistent and cohesive look while on one wall, a sideboard in richly grained wood with cast iron hardware provides the addition of a functional storage piece.

The master bedroom is a showcase for style and comfort where a king-sized bed allows for all the members of the family to a quick cuddle amid cool temperatures. Framed with a fully upholstered padded headboard in soft gray, the bed easily becomes a statement piece as a contemporary modern piece of furniture that is both stylish and functional. The bed is donned in gray satin sheets with a rust-colored throw blanket to pull together a harmonious color palette as seen in the rest of the house. Built-in wooden bedside tables provide enough surface for a Mid-Century Modern table lamp and other accoutrements to evoke a cozy feel. A Mid-Century Modern rocker in wood and black leather complements the bed and at the same time provides another sitting piece in the space. A carefully chosen art piece in rust, black and taupe is placed for a spark of abstract expressionism and completes the look of the bedroom.

While Christmas draws nearer and nearer, the mood becomes more relaxed as the pace is slowed down. Christmas is better appreciated when you just take a step back to wallow in the sights and sounds of the holidays in a laid-back atmosphere and OUR HOME provides the perfect setting for this.
