Sometimes, less is really more…
For Our Home, this cannot be more true when we purposely create settings and vignettes, set-ups and tableaus that are totally devoid of color for the month of August. An achromatic color scheme is a color palette that makes use of the non-colors; black, gray and white. August showcases this color scheme to elicit an urban vibe staged in an atmosphere of dramatic contrasts, a stylish and sophisticated ambiance and a cosmopolitan and a contemporary design feel without sacrificing style and substance, function and comfort.
Set against a backdrop of black French windows and a solid black wall, the entrance focal boasts of a unique sectional sofa in plush gray fabric upholstery. The unique quality of the sofa comes in the form of a flexible set-up consisting of a three seater main couch, an L-shape side lounger and a one seater chair designed to be put together or used separately depending on the size of the space and depending on the style of the room. This alone offers tons of possibilities when styling the living room. A lone tub accent chair in black leather serves as a foil to the all-gray couch providing a subtle contrast. And on the couch, throw pillows in white with specks of grays and black add an interesting texture to the seats. An eclectic mix of center, side and console tables punctuate the living room setting. A gray and black modern center table is placed in the middle of the sitting pieces and on top, gray earthenware jars filled with eucalyptus leaves adds a fresh element. Beside, a set of three crystal candelabras add an air of sophistication. The side table is a tripod table with a clear glass surface and stainless steel legs. This table carries a contemporary table lamp with a black marble base and gray fabric shade. The console table is made of white opaque glass where on top, topiaries, hurricane lanterns in black cast iron and another table lamp is displayed. A pair of tall phicus trees flank the setting at the back adding to the green elements while underfoot an area rug with printed designs in gray, black and white evoke a sense of luxury and comfort. A pair of black round ottomans complete the setting while at the same time, provide additional seating options.
A white marble surface dining table for six graze the dining room vignette. Surrounding the table are four black leather guest chairs and two gray fabric tufted host chairs. This time the backdrop is of a gray faux concrete wall where an abstract wall art of black and white shapes becomes an instant conversation piece. To the side, a tall gray wooden sideboard is added for storage and serving purposes and beside it, an additional side chair is placed for unexpected guests. On top of the dining table is a slew of accoutrements; three multi-level silver candelabras surround and clear glass rectangular vase with ferns and foliage and scattered playfully against the white of the marble surface are black ceramic apples and pears adding a whimsical appeal. Another printed rug in abstract gray and black patterns anchor the entire setting and a couple of bamboo trees evoke a fresh and natural feel.
A gray, fully upholstered bed in a biomorphic shape elicits a dynamic feel in the bedroom vignette. The organic feel instantly gives off a casual yet contemporary feel to the space and as such, intentionally using mismatched bedside tables seem to be the order of the day, maintaining a casual and comfortable vibe. On one side, a square night table in white marble holds the table lamp while on the other side, a set of round nest of tables functions as the night table. Behind the table, a set of nesting white glass console tables anchor the bed while providing a space for the other table lamp and a series of modern sculptures. At the foot of the bed, a lounge setting is installed consisting of a white marble coffee table and gray wing chair. Off to the side, a desk made of black glass and chrome legs paired with a gray upholstered desk chair complete the bedroom setting. The bed is dressed in soft linen sheets with black, white and gray coordinating patterns accentuated by black textured throw pillows and a plush charcoal gray blanket. A pair of palm trees are placed at the corners for yet another fresh and organic addition to the setting.
Simple yet effective, minimal yet loaded with stark contrasts and dramatic flairs, August takes on an achromatic look evoking a sense of urban stylings amidst contemporary and modern furniture and furnishings. For the whole month, draw inspiration from interior design looks with only blacks, grays and whites and be amazed at the results. Only at OUR HOME… Great Designs… Great Prices.
