The month of March brings in a new feel of freshness, and that’s because at OUR HOME, the colors, the textures and the whole vibe is that of spring. Spring is a time of renewal and rebirth and for this month, Our Home gears up to introduce the warmth of brown against the fresh tints and tones of pink, blush and coral – the colors of spring.
Set against the backdrop of sheer white curtains bedecked with vines and pink gerberas, the entrance focal instantly warms up the heart with an L-shaped, sectional sofa in a plush and luxurious shade of beige – setting up the color palette for something neutral and clean. A pair of oversized lounge chairs give off a fresh ambiance while at the same time introducing a pop of color. Center, side and console tables are finished in richly grained walnut with glass accents while lamps and other lighting fixtures are in a gold base with crème colored fabric shades. The couch is punctuated with pink floral patterned throw pillows alternating with a solid, deep, chocolate brown for added contrast. A warm, plush beige and brown area rug anchors the entire vignette underneath while at the same time providing an extra layer of luxury and comfort. Accoutrements and add-ons consist mostly of pink and coral earthenware vases and jars mixed in with solid, ecru-colored stoneware. Floral stylings are carefully curated to add to the fresh feel, with pink roses and pink crocuses contributing to the over-all spring feel of the setting.
The ambiance is warm and earthy as provided by the deep, wood grain feel of the wainscotting behind adding a touch of elegance and formality to the setting in the dining room vignette as a solid wood, walnut-finished, table for six takes center stage. The sculptured layer of spiraling wood slats in the base of the table provides an added design detail. Surrounded by six, elegantly designed dining chairs, the mood is continued in the tactile, pink velvet upholstery that covers the chairs. On both sides, a pair of tall, wooden armoires flank the setting and on top, lamps, pink and gold ceramic and glassware maintain the overall mood, while potted, bamboo plants provide foliage and an outdoor feel. The table is set with a stunning arrangement of white and pink orchids in a sprawling arrangement while gold and white tableware is set amidst gold flatware and cutlery and crystal stemware making the dining room an example of restrained opulence and controlled elegance. A beige and brown rug with a geometric borders is laid underfoot for added luxury.
A queen sized bed dominates the bedroom vignette. Framed with a beige base and a beige padded headboard, the bed is dressed in pink and brown linens and beddings that give off a stark palette analogous to strawberries and chocolate. Shams, throw pillows and throw blankets and carefully contrasted in brown and pink combinations that speak of an unusual but effective pairing. Two walnut bedside tables are on placed symmetrically on both sides of the bed, on top of which are identical table lamps in brown and beige. Also flanking the bed is a pair of etageres that show off and highlight a collection of pink and beige stoneware jars and vases. Off to the side, a sitting area consisting of a pair of brown leather loungers with pink throw pillows become the perfect setting for intimate conversations.
