This month of April, OUR HOME captures the freshness of the summer months by highlighting the perfect color for the summer – yellow – in all its shades, tones and tints. Be inspired as summer transforms our stores into avenues where creative ideas come to life and present a different and unique way of balancing the summer heat. April now becomes the backdrop for something fresh and new, bold and bright, sunshine and sunflowers.
The entrance focal becomes a witness to the boldness and brightness of yellow as a pair of canary yellow swivel chairs serves as accents to a three-seater/two-seater combo in grey. This already presents an interesting hint to a yellow-grey pairing that will be seen all throughout. The accent chairs offer a stark and warm contrast to the cool color palette of grey eliciting a balance of color temperatures. Checkered and striped patterns of yellow and gray are seen on the pillowcases adorning the sofa thereby cohesively putting everything together in a contemporary and modern vibe. Large white terracotta vases are filled with bright sunflower blooms, evoking a slice of summer while at the same time perking up the room. The marble topped center tables add a touch of elegance and style while on top, bright and bold yellow accessories give off pops of colors. Table lamps are donned in gray shades with white ceramic bases while a gray plush area rug is placed underfoot for warmth and insulation – all against the backdrop of dark mustard drapes – lending a nicely put together lived in look.
The dining vignette uses the same backdrop of dark-mustard shades but this time, it is done to provide a contrasting backdrop against the white, marble topped dining table for six. The white marble lends a stark and clean surface where again, bright yellow accoutrements stand out – a floral arrangement of lemon-yellow lilies, candelabras in black wrought iron with yellow candles and knick-knacks in a variety of black, white and yellow hues. Surrounding the table are six high-back dining chairs in pewter-grey upholstery, giving off elegant vibes while off to the side, a plain white chest of drawers acts as a buffet cabinet of sorts, providing a storage option in the dining. Two palm trees on opposite corners lend a tropical feel while again, a plush area rug is added to complete the setting.
The epitome of contemporary luxury is what you’ll find in the bedroom vignette. A queen-sized, grey, fully-padded bed takes center stage and automatically sets the stage for a night of restful sleep. The bed is covered with gray satin sheets in two shades to create a bit of a drama while bright floral yellow prints in throw pillows act as accents on the bed. The bed is flanked by a pair of chrome and glass side tables on which stainless steel table lamps with pleated, crisp white shades are placed. Yellow candles and modern bronze sculptures are also placed for added style. At the foot of the bed, a conversation area is allotted composed of two butter yellow lounge chairs and a custom-designed round occasional table in white marble. To the side, a pair of white chest of shelves acts as an etagere/curio cabinet for a collection of earthenware in gray, floral arrangements in yellow and hurricane lamps in black cast iron with yellow candles.
